My name is Daniel Sundahl, and I am a retired paramedic firefighter and the owner/artist of DanSun Photo Art. It’s my goal to promote post-traumatic growth, awareness and education by internationally connecting my peers. In October 2018, we held the first Peer Recovery and Resiliency Symposium in Edmonton, then again in 2019 in Canmore. Our goal is to bring together survivors of mental injuries who have thrived in their post-traumatic growth – to have them share their successes with others who may still be struggling. We sold out both previous events and had such an overwhelmingly positive response that we are holding our third symposium again in Canmore, Alberta, on October 22nd and 23rd, 2023. Prominent first responders will share their experiences on how to better cope with critical incidents and how they built resiliency.

Networking opportunities with EMS professionals from Canada, the United States and Australia.

Mental health professionals will share current treatments and methods to build resiliency with First Responders.
We aim to raise funds to support similar non-profit organizations that promote mental health, recovery and resiliency. In addition, with your sponsorship, we can provide the presenters who have agreed to attend our event with financial support for their travel arrangements. Our symposium will give a voice to community members for change, improvement and empowerment related to mental health and post-traumatic stress. Within the last year, more resources have become available to those who need them, but there is still a long way to go. This symposium has proven it has incredible potential for providing excellent community service and further connecting the Emergency Responder communities in our province.
